Angela's Story
As a Writing tutor Angela leads Creative Writing Workshops across Cumbria and the wider UK; in hospitals, schools and in the community. Giving something back is important, as is facilitating creativity and enabling the flowering of the imagination.
Angela holds an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Northumbria, and is a highly qualified teacher. She has also been the Creative Writing Tutor for Mungrisdale Writers Group since founding it with local writers in 1998. The writers meet regularly at the Mungrisdale Village Hall, which rests in a valley in the Northern fells beyond Keswick.
Her books include On Juniper Mountain (2010), Dreams of the Blue Poppy (2007), Search Dog (1987), Sam & Co (1989), Hearing Dog (1997) and collections of poetry, including Sacred Earth, North Face, Into The Lotus and Walls at the World’s End, and her latest, Whale Language: Songs of Iona (2011), a collection celebrating the sacred island of Iona. She also wrote Mr Mullett Owns A Cloud (2006), a children’s book which was republished recently.
As well as being a poet and novelist, Angela was is a journalist, broadcasting widely on television and radio. For more than ten years she was a popular feature writer and Walking columnist for Cumbria Life, and still writes occasionally both for Cumbria Life and Cumbria magazine as well as other magazines and newspapers.
